I've seen some studies using fish oil/omega 3's. I'm looking for I guess you could say an action plan. I have ADD but I will not take medicine. Partially because I can't afford it and partially because I think we are overmedicated as a whole. Any help would be appreciated. Please put links to sites if you have them.

My son did much better when we removed processed foods from his diet. Also, the Omega-3 fatty acids helped him as well. His psychologist gave us an article on malnutrition and ADHD/ADD. It says that many people with the symptoms are missing or low in certain minerals important to brain function. You can get muscle tested to see what your body is needing. Neurofeedback also has great results that tend to be permanent, but is rather pricey.Good luck, I hope you can find something that works for you and doesn't involve medication.

They have a behavioral management section in the ADHD book I'm readin on children aged 2-12. My child has been evaluated for Autism. He is not a normal 2 year old child. He does not talk he has 2 other siblings that talk circles around him. HE is very mean to me and his siblings, animals. There is absolutely no DISCIPLINE for him because nothing works

I feel your pain!! My son is 8 and was DXed with Aspergers Syndrome (high functioning Autism) The terrible twos have a different meaning when a child is not your "normal" child. This is a GREAT website to visit for questions about Autism http://www.xmission.com/~winter/CGIBiN/ultimatebb.cgi
Keep your chin up :)

Understanding, Diagnosing, and Treating ADHD in Children and Adolescents An Integrative Approach

When it comes to Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, which is too often a cavalier diagnosis of first resort, clinicians can benefit from the range of responsible views on assessment and treatment proffered here as pieces of the puzzle. The subtleties of diagnosing AD/HD and the repertoire of approaches for intervention, as well as techniques for dealing with commonly coexisting learning disabilities, are the focus of this encyclopedic reference that combines respect for issues relating to brain physiology, pharmacology, psychodynamics, family systems, and education.Estimates of the incidence of AD/HD range upward from 3.5 million children, six boys to every girl; some 1.3 million cases are medicated with Ritalin. If doctors, therapists, and school personnel were to have only one resource to consult toward fully understanding AD/HD — the problems and the solutions — the collection of authoritative perspectives assembled by Drs. Incorvaia, Mark, and Tessmer should be it.

Just wondering what the official tests are that doctors give patients to diagnose ADD/ADHD, not the self tests etc.. sources would be appreciated :)
It depends on the doctor and if he is going to administer any psych testing. My psychiatrist just listened to my symptoms and diagnosed according to the DSM-IV TR. That is primarily how psychiatric disorders are diagnosed.
