How do you get diagnosed with ADHD?
22 Oct 2008
Does anyone know what kind of tests the doctor does to see if you have ADHD?
I know that you are BORN with it, what I'm asking is how can the doctor tell? Like does he ask you questions or what kind of tests does he give you?
You stick out from the rest of the kids in your class. All kids are hyper. Your teacher is the best judge, because of the basis of comparison she has.

2008 Aug 13 5You have to have failed at least one grade, (I failed third grade) but in the era of social promotion they may overlook it. They will talk to your family about your history. They look for stuff like ydslexia, do you get turned off during sex (if my wife farts it’s all over I can’t function)

2008 Aug 13 6ADHD is sometimes difficult to diagnose. Unlike the flu or a limb fracture, ADHD lacks symptoms that can be detected in a physical examination or via a chemical test. Rather, the diagnosis of ADHD relies on the presence of a number of characteristic behaviors over an extended period of time. Often the specialist will observe the child during high-stimuli periods such as a birthday party and during quieter periods of focused concentration.
Adolescent and adult assessment can utilize the Brown Attention Deficit Disorder Scale. Impulsive and inattentive behavior can be assessed using the Conner’s Continuous Performance Test (CPT) or the Integrated Visual and Auditory CPT. Girls can be specifically assessed using the Nadeau/Quinn/Littman ADHD Self-Rating Scale.
Also, complete physical examination is needed for children, Good luck.

2008 Aug 13 9You want to know how you get diagnosed for ADHD? First, how do you know you have ADHD? Their are some good
books written about the subject. Look for a psysh. Dr. who specializes in ADHD> Many doctors do not want to prescribe the good “meds” for ADHD. Because they are controlled substances. So you better have a good record in relation to any illegal use of drugs. Of course their are other drugs they can give you.
The main “test” will be an interview of your case history. Of course the Dr. should be able to observe some of your behaviors. Your school record and employment record usely reveals a lot. Hope this helps. I would caution you to try the less complicated drugs first, as Ritalin and Dexadrene will probably lead to dependance.ETC.
