It's around 10% for one parent, and I think the stat is about the same for a sib. I don't think the two percentages would add together, so about 10%.

PS - I've never heard of this mother to son, father to daughter gene passage. Since I'm female and inherited this lovely illness from my mom's side of the family, I'm pretty skeptical.

    it is usually passed from mother to son, father to daughter but there is always the chance of it happening. Look at who in generations before them had it, to get a better gauge of the potential.

    my Dr. told me that an ADHD child has a 50% cChance of having an ADHD parent. so yes there is a strong genetic link.

    it wouldn't hurt to read up on both ADHD and Bipolar. doesn't mean he has it, but if he does you will be ready to seek help for him sooner than later
